  • SARDAR P. P. GURUBAKSH SINGH Gold Medal

    Sardar Gurubaksh Singh was the first chief patron of The Indian Rose Federation. A keen rosarian and a great philanthropist , he had offered prime land in the heart of Jullunder for an I.R.F. Rose Garden and trial ground. Unfortunately, he was unable to see his dream fructify inti reality. Born on 28th October 1916, he studied both Law & Agriculture. A leading rosarian & a Paul Harris fellow , he served as President of the Rotary Club of Jullunder. He was a member of number of committees on agriculture production , seed technology, social welfare activities like nature cure & yoga, the Indian Society of Agriculture Engineers, the International Punjabi Society, the Cancer Foundation & the Bharat Krishak Samaj. He had also won a number of awards in agriculture.

    • Published number of articles on topics related o Women Welfare in national & internationals journals. Also published no. of articles on roses in national & international souvenirs and magazines.
    • So far has bagged six awards including " World Rose Award " by World Federation of Rose Societies in 2006 and the Gold Medal by Indian Rose Federation.
    • Held number of senior positions in the life. Also has attended number of seminars in India & Abroad.
    • Since 1994 attended all the world rose conventions in various capacities.
    • Acted as co-chairperson & jury at many international Trial Grounds in Europe & USA
    • Undertaken no. of socio cultural activities mainly for the women welfare

    • Born on 22nd May 1923 at Hyderabad. Graduated from Osmania University in 1944. He is the Managiing Director of The Hyderabad Deccan Cigarette Factory Pvt.Ltd. at Musheerabad , Hyderabad.
    • Was awarded the A.P. Distinguised Industrialist Award - 2000 by the Exhibition Society, Hyderabad at the 61st All India Industrial Exhibition on 01.01.2001
    • Was presented the awarded for excellence in floriculture by Reach Out India on 20th Aug., 2001.
    • Has a passion for gardening for nearly five decades. He always had a deep and abiding love for plants of all varieties - both foliage and flowering plants, combined with a serious study of the world of plants
    • Has also had the distinction of being nominated on the panels of judges for flower shows and rose shows on several occasions and also had the privilege of judging the Chrysanthemum and Bougainvillaea Show at the Y.W.C.A., New Delhi and PUSA.
    • Invited to Pakistan by the Horticulture Society as a FOREIGN JUDGE to Judge the show recently(February 2005)
